- World Wetlands Day - 02nd February
Theme in 2021: 'Wetlands and Water'.
On this day, in 1971, the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance was signed. Wetlands are a very important part of our biodiversity and it is essential to see that they are well protected. Each year since 1997, the Ramsar Secretariat has provided materials to help raise public awareness about the importance and value of wetlands.
2. National Science Day: 28th February
Theme in 2021: “Future of STI: Impacts on Education, Skills and Work”.
28th of February, 1928 was the great day in India when an invention in the field of Indian science was completed by the famous Indian physicist, Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. To commemorate and honour this event always in the future, 28th of February was asked to the Indian Government to designate as a National Science Day in India by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC) in the year 1986.

3. Theme in 2021: "Forest restoration: a path to recovery and well-being."

4. World Water Day – 22nd March
Theme in 2021: 'Valuing Water'.
World Water Day is celebrated every year on 22nd of March by the people all across the world. The day was established to be celebrated as an annual event in the year 1993 by the decision of the United Nations General Assembly. This campaign was declared as a World Day for Water to be celebrated on 22nd of March each year to increase the awareness among the people about the importance, need and conservation of water.

5. World Meteorological Day – 23rd March
Theme in 2021: The Ocean, our climate, and weather.
World Meteorological Day takes place every year on 23 March and commemorates the coming into force on 23 March 1950 of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization. It showcases the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to the safety and wellbeing of society and is celebrated with activities around the world. 6. Earth Day - 22nd, April
Theme in 2021: “Restore Our Earth”.

7. World Migratory Bird Day – 09th, 10th May
Theme in 2021: “Sing, Fly, Soar – Like a Bird!”
World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) is an annual awareness-raising campaign highlighting the need for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats. It has a global outreach and is an effective tool to help raise global awareness of the threats faced by migratory birds, their ecological importance, and the need for international cooperation to conserve them.

8. International Day for Biological Diversity – 22nd May
Theme in 2021: “We're part of the solution”
Biodiversity is the foundation for life and for the essential services provided by ecosystems. It therefore underpins peoples’ livelihoods and sustainable development in all areas of activity, including economic sectors such as agriculture, forestry, fisheries and tourism, among others. By halting biodiversity loss, we are investing in people, their lives and their well-being.
The UN has proclaimed 22 May the International Day for Biological Diversity to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues.

9. World Environment Day – 05th June
Theme in 2021: 'Ecosystem Restoration'
World Environment Day is the United Nations day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. The host Every World Environment Day has a different host country, where the official celebrations take place. 10. World Day to Combat Desertification & Drought – 17th June

12. International Biodiesel Day – 10th August
World Biofuel Day is observed on August 10 to raise awareness of the importance of non-fossil fuels as a substitute for conventional fossil fuels. This initiative will enable non-fossil fuel cleaner consumption patterns. The government of India has raised various schemes to enhance the biofuel sector. These alternative fuels will add to the environmental well-being of the country.

13. World Ozone Day/ International Day for the preservation of the Ozone layer – 16th September
Theme in 2021: Keeping us, our food and vaccines cool".
World Ozone Day is observed on September 16, every year. It is celebrated to spread awareness among people about the depletion of the Ozone Layer and search for possible solutions to preserve it. On this day, people from all over the world are expected to join the Montreal protocol to join the talks and seminars.

14. World Water Monitoring Day: 18th September
World Water Monitoring Day is an international education and outreach program that builds public awareness and involvement in protecting water resources around the world by engaging citizens to conduct basic monitoring of their local water bodies.
15. Zero Emissions Day: 21st September
Zero Emissions Day has evolved into a worldwide movement that aims to burn no fossil fuels for 24 hours that day. It all started in 2008 when founder Ken Wallace launched a website in Nova Scotia, Canada, calling for 21 September to be a day of zero fossil fuel consumption. The purpose of this day is to give our planet a break from fossil fuels and what they release into the air, at least for one day, every year.

16. World Environmental Health Day: 26th September
Theme in 2021- 'Prioritising Environmental Health for healthier communities in the global recovery.'

18. World Rivers Day: Every last Sunday in September
World Rivers Day is a day to celebrate our rivers by increasing awareness of water related issues and promoting core values associated with sustainability, conservation and river stewardship. This event will help bring a greater awareness to the rivers that we use for drinking water, industry, agriculture, residential uses and recreation. As well, it will increase awareness with historical and cultural issues.

20. Wildlife Week – 01st to 08th October
Theme in 2021: 2021: “Forests and Livelihoods: Sustaining People and Planet”
Wildlife Week is annually celebrated across India between 2nd to 8th October with an aim to protect and preserve the flora and fauna of India. The Indian Board of Wildlife was constituted and the idea of Wildlife Week was conceptualised in 1952 to raise the awareness about the long term goals of protecting the wildlife of India. Initially, in 1955 the Wildlife day was celebrated which was later upgraded as the Wildlife Week in 1957.The first Wildlife Week was observed in 1957.

24. National Energy Conservation day - 14th December
